The ball just dropped in Times Square. 2012 is upon us.
So by now you’ve likely considered whether or not you’ll be committing to a New Year’s Resolution. Or maybe you’ve thought of a resolution and already quit.
That’s the thing with resolutions - generally speaking, we suck at keeping them. By January 15th our best intentions are a faint glimmer of a memory of what we hoped we’d be.
But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if you could stick with a resolution for an entire year.
That’s my resolution this year - or at least my first resolution. I want to stick with my commitments for a full year and do what I can to help other people do the same. So I created this bare bones blog in an attempt to cobble together a little community to help. Because accountability is key when you’re keeping a resolution - it’s far harder to give up (or at least more embarrassing) when you’ve publicly stated your goals.
So here are my 2 “real” resolutions for 2012:
There’s a rhyme and reason to why I’ve chosen the above, but in short, it’s because I turned 30 in November and want to try and stay in somewhat decent shape. I’ll have some other goals for the year too but these are my physical challenges and I’m sharing them here for the world to see. And I’ll give some more detail in the future on just why I chose the above goals.
What I’d love to see is many more share their goals for the year 2012. Take some time and think through what would be a challenging, but achievable accomplishment that is able to be tracked. Then do the following:
We will see this goes, but if we get some people willing to put their goals out there, perhaps we can share some stories and progress and encourage each other along the way (especially in a few months when these resolutions won’t seem as smart as they do today).
Set a goal. Share it. And then go out and make it happen. That’s what I hope to see this year. Let’s do this together!
